The Digital Pro's Crime Scene Photography Workshop
This course was developed in cooperation with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division for the specific needs of Detectives and patrol officers.
Salem Police Department "Crime Scene Photography" Workshop, Nov. 4th,
Description: A very basic three hour workshop based on the needs of the officers to record crime-event scenes with emphasis on the needs of first to arrive.
Topics Include: digital camera operation, techniques, and procedures for different events.
Almost all the current Digital Cameras makes and models are capable of taking professional quality photos by using the following features:
Macro
Fill in flash, and flash off
Exposure compensation
All that attend are required to bring their digital camera and will be shown individually how to make these adjustments before the class starts.
The workshop begins a Power Point presentation demonstrating techniques needed
to get the most out of your camera. In the second half they will be using their cameras
taking photos and using the techniques we have discussed. (backdrops and subjects set up in the class room.)
Instructional CD included with workshop.
Cost is $80 per person (10 min-15 max)

The complete software training is included on the CD.
Many departments have the memory cards submitted by the officers to "in office" personel for downloading and processing their photos. For this reason the time spent on software is limited to a short discussion on file management and demo of Picasa2 software. In those locations where the officers are responsible for downloading and processing their own images additional time can be provided to the training.
The CD includes , terminology, software principles, image downloading
and organization, printing and e-mailing digital images.
